World Tourism Forum Global Meeting is held once a year, in order to discuss the future of tourism all around the world. World Tourism Forum Global Meeting 2016 had taken place at Lütfi Kirdar ICEC Istanbul. The 120 leading authorities invited as speakers to the tourism industry included President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso (2004-2014), President of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB) Başaran Ulusoy, CEO of TAV Airports Holding Sani Şener, CEO of ABTA Mark Tanzer, Founder and CEO of Mama Shelter Serge Trigano, CEO of Trivago Rolf Schrömgens, and CEO of DenizBank Hakan Ateş. President of the Republic of Turkey HE Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered the closing speech at the World Tourism Forum.
The two-day global event will host nearly 150 international speakers from over 20 countries, including top executives of the world’s leading tourism companies, tourism investors, public organizations, academics, technology experts, political authorities, non-governmental organizations and Turkish and international tourism authorities.
The main idea of the World Tourism Forum is to serve as an annual meeting which will bring together world tourism leaders and tourism industry representatives and where new trends and policies will be discussed Bulut Bagci stated that this event will promote the potential of the Turkish tourism industry and that they will continue with the efforts to increase Turkey’s tourism income.
